ELA · Emergency Legal Assist

If you are ever arrested in the UAE, help moves in three seconds.

ELA is an emergency legal membership. One 3-second hold on the phone or watch sends the member's case to a vetted law firm, informs their consulate, and keeps their family in the loop — live.

The problem

Nine in ten UAE residents are expatriates — and most meet the legal system for the first time on the day of an arrest.

  • A complaint is enough. Financial disputes, traffic incidents, and workplace accusations can each lead directly to detention.
  • The first hours decide the case. Counsel at first questioning, consular access, and family contact are hardest to arrange exactly when they matter most.
  • Today those hours are improvised — a confiscated phone, a family with no information, a lawyer found by frantic search.

Why now

The arrest moment finally has infrastructure — and GCC consumer legal protection is still whitespace.

The trigger now exists

Watches and phones matured into reliable emergency infrastructure: an always-worn trigger, background location, and a live lock-screen channel. A one-gesture, server-orchestrated response was not buildable five years ago.

The cover doesn't — yet

Legal-expense insurance is a €10B+ annual-premium category in Europe. No consumer equivalent exists in the GCC — while regional underwriters are actively seeking embedded-distribution products.

European legal-protection premium: RIAD (Intl. Association of Legal Protection Insurance) market data — verify current-year figure before sending.
What we built

One 3-second hold moves everything at once.

A vetted law firm is dispatched

The case opens and a contracted firm is engaged under a response-time SLA, 24/7 — with automatic failover if a firm doesn't respond.

The consulate is informed

The member's consulate receives the case; ELA ops handle the legwork the family would otherwise attempt blind.

The family sees what's happening

Trusted contacts follow a live response timeline — status, location, and updates — instead of silence.

Server-orchestrated: once the hold completes, the response continues even if the phone is confiscated or dies.

Traction · product stage

The full stack ships today: iPhone and Apple Watch apps, a 24/7 ops portal, and a drilled dispatch pipeline.

  • Native Apple Watch app mirrors every emergency flow — the trigger lives on the wrist.
  • Deadman auto-dispatch: if the countdown expires, the response launches even when the member can't act.
  • Live location streaming and lock-screen Live Activities through an active case.
  • Ops case portal with real-time member, family, and firm coordination; voice notes with ops-side transcription.

Business model

Every member pays 750 AED a year — insured tiers stack commission on top of the same response.

TierPrice / yrWhat differs
Essential750 AEDFull emergency response; member self-pays legal fees
Shield3,750 AED750 service + 3,000 insurance premium; legal fees insured to 150,000 AED
Family Shield7,500 AEDHousehold cover for the family's insured adults
  • Subscription: ELA retains the full 750 AED service fee on every tier.
  • Insurance commission: [10%] of premium on insured tiers under negotiation
  • Legal referral: 10% of litigation fees on referred insured claims.

The emergency response is identical on every tier — only the insurance differs.

Prices live in the production checkout today. Indicative insured terms: 150,000 AED cap (100k legal / 50k bail assistance), 20,000 AED deductible — subject to final underwriting.
Market · bottom-up

Working expats alone make the UAE base subscription a 5B+ AED market — insurance attach lifts revenue per member ~40%.

Labour force: World Bank (2023). Salaried-professional ICP count is a stated assumption — to be tightened with employer headcount data during diligence. Bottom-up: count × our live price; no top-down analyst figures used.
Go-to-market

Corporate duty-of-care is the wedge: one signature enrolls thousands of employees at near-zero acquisition cost.

The wedge — employer-paid enrollment

Direct B2B to multinationals, banks, and professional-services firms with large expat workforces and existing duty-of-care budgets. A 1,500-seat account is ~1.1M AED/yr of subscription revenue, acquired through one commercial conversation.

40-account target pipeline built · Big-4, banking, tech

  • SME co-sell: law firms and insurers bundle ELA for their business clients.
  • Consulates & community groups: distribution to the nationalities most exposed.
  • Individuals: paid social as the secondary funnel — priced and budgeted, not the plan's load-bearing channel.
The account list is an outreach pipeline — no corporate has been signed to date, and none is presented as a customer.
Model · bottoms-up build

A conservative, driver-level build reaches ~25,000 members and ~21M AED revenue in year one — on a 4.6M cost base.

Sensitivity: at half of every conversion assumption — 12,500 members, ~10.4M AED — the model still covers year-one costs more than twice over.

Illustrative conservative case with every driver stated; each assumption is owned and defended line-by-line in diligence.
Model · company scenarios

The company's own model runs 100k–500k year-one subscribers — 246M AED gross revenue at base case.

ScenarioYr-1 subscribersGross revenue
Low100,000~82M AED
Base300,000246M AED
High500,000~410M AED
  • Base-case composition: 225M subscriptions + 10.5M insurance commission + 10.5M legal-referral commission.
  • Stated assumptions: 50% insurance uptake; premium modeled at 2,000 AED (since confirmed at 3,000 — upside); [10%] commission rates.

This is the company model from the July 2026 business plan, presented as the upside case if the corporate channel compounds. The bottoms-up build on the previous slide is the plan of record.

Low/high revenue figures scale the base-case composition pro-rata; full scenario tables (including claims-frequency cases) in the appendix.
Competition

Today's alternative is improvisation: an embassy call, a law firm found by search — or nothing at all.

Defensibility

The app is the easy part — the moat is the response network and the underwriting.

Where this goes

The playbook repeats across the GCC: 30M+ expatriates, the same exposure, no incumbent.

Year 1 · UAE

Launch, insurance live, corporate wedge proven, 25k-member base case.

Year 2 · Gulf

Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Oman, Bahrain — local legal partners and underwriting on the same platform.

Year 3+ · Corridors

Sending-country partnerships across Asia: distribution where the region's workforce actually comes from.

Each market is the same machine: contracted firms + local underwriting + the platform we've already built.
